Squash Ball Charity 2020
SSRA is urgently fundraising to take advantage of the government matching grant in this bicentennial year; the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF) and the Bicentennial Community Fund (BCF). Every Dollar raised will be matched 1-1 up to $800,000.
The OTSF is an annual fund applied by most National Sports Associations, which matches dollar for dollar of donation raised, up to S$80,000. This is to be for the purposes of supporting High performance plans only. As part of the Singapore bicentennial commemoration, the maximum matching amount has been increased to $400,000, limited to this financial year only.
In line with the bicentennial celebrations, MCCY has also set up a one-time fund (BCF) to encourage everyone to give back to the community (Charities) through giving. This is also capped at $400,000, matched dollar for dollar raised. All donors are entitled to 250% tax deductible relief for your donations.
Essentially, this ONE-TIME opportunity would mean matching every dollar we raised up to S$800,000, receiving a grand total of S$1.6 million. However, we are tasked to meet the deadline of 31 March 2020.
Earlier this month, Minister Grace Fu shared in Parliament that Kallang Squash Centre (KSC) will be demolished by end 2021. In order for SSRA to continue running its National training and developmental programs, SportSG has identified Yio Chu Kang Squash Centre (YSC) and/or Burghley Squash Centre (BSC) to be possible interim centres while the authorities find/build Squash a new home.
Do check out my video message with regards to the closing of KSC:

This fundraiser dinner aims to bring the squash community together to celebrate our passion and give back to the sport.
The funds raised will empower the next generation of athletes to take on the challenge of revitalising squash and initiate outreach programmes to promote the interest in squash again.
To build up temporary courts (modular) to cater for SSRA’s high volume of usage in the areas of high performance, events and programs. We do not want to lose the momentum we have built in the recent years. As much as possible, it will also be let out for public use. Given such a measure, it will minimise the displacement of active players at YSC and BSC. This is to be in placed while SportSG builds us a new Squash centre.
To cooperate with clubs and institutions that have squash court facilities. To utilize their courts during the off peak days. This may result in some inconvenience while SportSG builds a new squash centre.
SSRA actively sources for Corporate sponsors (Naming rights) to build new courts in existing building structures or an entirely new squash centre/building. This would not only provide sufficient space for the national team but it will be let out for public use as well.
So come join us on *15 November evening, at Tower Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore!
*Due to the developments of the COVID-19 situation, the Squash Ball has been postponed from 16 March to 15 November.
