Pesta Sukan, which means sports festival in Malay, was first introduced in Singapore back in 1964. The festival was used to bring about camaraderie and foster closer community ties between countrymen whilst competing in a series of friendly competitions.
The 2019 Pesta Sukan will replace the annual GetActive! Singapore from August 1-10, and will be featuring 21 sports including aquatics, basketball, boccia, football, table tennis and volleyball.
SQUASH will be featured for the first time in the communal games, starting from 29th July to 7th August. Both public squash venues Yio Chu Kang Squash Centre and Kallang Squash Centre, will be utilised.
Four categories will be up for participation, catered to all ages and especially those who have never played or have tried the Sport before. Best of all, they are all TEAM events. The categories are as such:
- Youth Novice (Under 14, 18, 21)
- Men’s & Women’s Open (E grade & below)
- Mixed Masters
- Corporate Mixed Open
Every team may register up to 5 players. Of which, only 3 players shall be rostered to play for each showing. Scoring is vastly different from the usual game of Squash.
More information can be found in the Tournament Handbook below.
